131: (short) US Giving Drops 1.7% – What Gives?

The Giving USA report came out on June 18th and announced that interest adjusted giving dropped 1.7% in 2018. A big culprit is the tax deduction changes, however, the data show several shifts that may be moving this trend. According to the report individuals, bequests, foundations and corporations donated $427.71b in 2018, according to Giving USA 2019: The Annual Report on Philanthropy for theYear 2018This means giving rose 0.7% measured after inflation makes the total of $424.74b (drop of 1.7%).
