134: Raising $50M from online gaming with Extra-Life.org

E-Sports are on track to be a billion-dollar market in 2019 and the opportunity for peer-to-peer giving is just starting. 

Extra Life unites thousands of gamers around the world to play games in support of their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Since its inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised over $50 million USD for sick and injured kids. We interview Lou Adducci the Senior Manager of Extra Life for Children’s Miracle Network Hospital Network. 

There are more tools than ever like Twitch that allow players to stream their games live and ask for donations to select nonprofits. In addition, these streams are like live performances that keep people’s attention and allow for the message of the nonprofit to be amplified.
